How much does it cost to rent a boat in Zadar or Sukošan?

A small licence-free boat in Zadar costs 60–130 € a day in the 2026 season, a 6–7 m motorboat 300–430 €, a 9–10 m RIB from 500 € and a skippered sailboat from about 400 € a day. Fuel is almost never included, and deposits range from 100 € for a dinghy to several thousand euros for a yacht.

Sukošan and Bibinje tend to be 10–20 % cheaper than central Zadar, because the boats sit in Marina Dalmacija or at a village pier rather than on the expensive city waterfront.

What is included and what is not

  • Fuel is not included – you refill before returning or pay by consumption. A 5 hp boat burns a few euros' worth; a 250 hp RIB to Kornati and back can use 80–150 € of petrol.
  • Skipper: 150–240 € per day plus meals; some bases bundle the skipper into full-day trip prices.
  • Deposit: 100–300 € for a licence-free boat, 500–1,500 € for a motorboat, 2,000–5,000 € for a charter yacht. Returned at handover if nothing is damaged.
  • Usually included: life jackets, anchor, GPS or charts, bimini, swim ladder; often snorkelling masks and a cool box.
  • Kornati National Park entry (25 € per boat under 7 m bought outside the park, 45 € inside) and Telašćica tickets are extra.

Season, half days and other price differences

July and August are the most expensive; in May, June and September the same boats are 15–30 % cheaper and the sea is still 22–25 °C. Most bases offer half-day rentals in the morning (8–13 h) or afternoon (14–19 h) for 60–70 % of the day rate – take the morning slot, the maestral wind blows after lunch.

Multi-day rentals drop the daily price by 10–20 %, a full week even more. Booking through commission portals typically costs 10–20 % more than booking directly with the owner – Adrysa charges no commission, so the price you see is the one the owner set.

How to save, and what to avoid

  • Take a smaller boat: for swimming in the bays of Ugljan and Pašman a 5–6 m boat is enough; a 250 hp RIB is overkill and burns more fuel than the small boat costs to rent.
  • Book before the season (March–May) – in July the good boats are gone on weekends.
  • Split the cost: a 7-person motorboat at 360 € works out at about 50 € a head, less than an organised Kornati excursion.
  • Do not sign without photos of the hull and the fuel gauge; bases check both at return.
